Is Jesus prince of peace?

Image
In chapter 12 of Luke Jesus tells us over and over how important we are to God and that our needs will be me and not to worry. But among all these verses luke 12:51 really spoke to me : Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you , but rather division. I've always thought of Jesus as the prince of peace like the scripture in Isaiah says. But here it says he is to divide.  I feel this division is a separation of followers from sin. We all have people in our lives that don't know Jesus as their savior. So looking with that thought in mind verses 52-53 For from now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three.  They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law." This is a heartbreaking truth to me. Many loved ones choose to live of the world not of the ...

Struggling thru week 2 of Luke

Image
Monday was busy day but I got my reading done and my daily notes with no issues I soaked up a lot of the word and the huge quantities of information in Chapter 6.  My primary focus was on the golden rule! Luke 6:31  And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. Oh how many times this week have we found situations where we can apply this.  My ten year old got her feelings hurt by friends at school.  My four year old didn't want to be nice to one of her preschool classmates and to be completely honest there have been times this week I wanted to not be so nice to others, but these words of Jesus just keep following me around. Life isn't for us to treat others poorly yet Jesus tells us over and over to love and do good to others no matter how they do to us and this brings me to yesterday.  When I first started the good morning girls reading plan in August of 2014 I didn't join a group but later on I joined one with Bridget as a lea...

Blogging thru the Bible starting with Luke

Image
I have been following Cortney Joesph at www.womenlivingwell.com in a slowed down journey of reading through the bible.  She is organizing the reading and many people worldwide are following the plan. I started to blog about this when the journey first began but for some reason I felt it wasn't time to yet. Seems the Lord teaches me patience by responding in a "not yet" a lot. Here is a link to today's reading: Luke chapter 1   Luke Chapter 1 covers a lot of information.  I love how many bibles break it down into sub sections.  The first section in my bible is  a dedication to Theophilus.  Explaining the book is an orderly account of the things that have been taught. The next section is the birth of John the baptist being foretold. This is the section that contains my focus today. One of the most earth shattering  revelations I find in today's reading requires a little more research about the times and customs of this time span.  Zechar...
